Our Story

In 1998, Tim and Tammie Brown built a two-story red brick house on the farm they own in the rolling hills of Jackson County, Tennessee. Situated on beautiful Flynn’s Creek Road at the gateway to 300 wooded acres, the walls of this home have witnessed the growth of 6 children, years of homeschooling, several years of hosting a house church, countless reunions, parties, and events, in addition to numerous weekends of believers in Jesus gathering to rest, retreat, and worship. It was these weekend gatherings, from 2008 - 2011, that planted a seed in the hearts of Tim and Tammie to open their home in a more extravagant way. The vision grew and took shape as a rest and retreat center for believers in Christ, seekers of Christ, missionaries, families, churches, businesses, and beyond.

Although the seed was planted, it took a decade to come to fruition in God’s perfect timing. In the spring of 2019 the vision solidified into a plan to add bath-house style rooms to the existing home, convert the garage space into a family-style dining area, and transform the 7 bedrooms into bunk rooms to accommodate up to 40 guests.

Tim, Tammie, and their children are passionate about the reality that the Gospel is for all of life, and that our Kingdom inheritance is the rest we find in the truths of that glorious Gospel. It is their hope that those who stay at Covenant Rest will leave having rested deeply in Christ, and with new breath in their bones to live from that rest in their everyday lives.
